Lets Talk About GMO’s 2

non gmo project label

By now many of you have probably heard about GMOs. There is a lot more noise now, than there was a year ago. Many people are trying so hard to label GMOs, voices are heard, some actions are taken but definitely not enough, particularly in the US. More than 60 countries around the world have banned GMOs. The USA is NOT one of them. Many people don’t even know what GMOs are, and that is where I will start.

What are GMOs? When you google GMO you get thousands of results of article after article stating the harmful facts of GMOs. You may even come across some articles telling you GMOs are not harmful, those are lies. When you google GMO the first thing that pops up is the definition from the Non GMO Project group: “GMOs, or “genetically modified organisms,” are plants or animals that have been genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses or other plants and animals. These experimental combinations of genes from different species cannot occur in nature or in traditional crossbreeding.”

Top 10 Worst Foods Containing GMOs: Yuck!

When you walk into a grocery store, have you noticed the Non GMO Project Verified labels on certain organic foods? There are quite a few organic companies, labeling there food. Even though countless times GMO labeling has been turned down, companies are beginning to do it. GMOs are in more than 80% of conventional processed foods, scary huh? I’ve read too many articles to count on the harmful facts about GMOs on our bodies and the environment, from animals dying to birth defects and cancer. There is SO much information about GMOs now, than there was a year ago. So instead of me going on and on about how much GMOs and monsanto make me mad, I’m going to connect you to some great sites with information that I’ve found helpful in learning more about GMOs.

I have a lot of thoughts on GMOs, but I think you should read about them from trustworthy sources – where I got all my information and knowledge.

1) http://http://www.nongmoproject.org/learn-more/

This is a great site, that has a ton of information on GMOs how it affects our environment, us and animals. This site is where the Non GMO sticker on foods came from.

2) Natural Society – 5 tips on how to avoid GMO foods in the grocery store

I subscribe to this website. He gives you a list of foods to avoid, which foods contain the most GMOs, and more info on GMOs in general. He also has a lot of articles on basic organic, healthy living.

3) http://naturalrevolution.org/gmo-resources/the-good-bad-and-ugly-about-gmos/

I haven’t searched around on this site much, but this article addresses how GMOs are made, studies, and how to avoid them.

A few thoughts before you go. Just think for a second, the food people are consuming isn’t food, it’s fake. Made up, engineered and modified in a way that our bodies in no way can or should be able to handle. GMOs are making it harder and harder to actually have REAL food. Crops are being contaminated, streams aren’t pure due to chemicals running off into the water. Animals are drinking that water, eating the grass and being filled up with chemicals. Organic pure food is becoming harder to grow due to our soil being so contaminated.

Why do we seem to have more health conditions and overweight Americans? Because of our food, pesticides, BPA’s, GMOs, and chemicals in almost everything. From the soaps you use to the food you eat. Yes, it is hard buying organic foods and products because of the prices. But it’s worth it in the long run. I’m going to write more posts on chemicals in the things we use on a daily basis. That will come later. But for now, learn about GMOs, become aware of them and avoid them at all costs.

Happy Reading!
