St. Patrick’s Day “Green” Breakfast

spinach pancakes

It’s St. Patrick’s Day, and what better way to start the day than to eat green food. But wait, put away the green food dye! Infact throw it out the window. Food coloring is known to cause tumors, allergic reactions, hormone problems, mood changes, cancer and the list goes on. It’s added in so many foods, even in Florida they dye the outer skins of oranges in the cold fall months, in order for the skin to look more vibrant. How terrible is that? So throw any food dye you have out and go for plants. Use beets, raspberries, strawberries to dye things red, ues blueberries for blue, dark greens for a vibrant green color, and so on.

For these delightful pancakes, I used a handful of fresh organic spinach. You don’t taste the spinach at all, it’s quite amazing the color it makes. Plus you get the health benefits of the spinach! Now to make green spinach pancakes, make your usual pancakes but for the liquid ingredients blend them up in a blender with a handful of spinach. I usually add extra eggs for protein, and fluff. I also add a good “accidental” pour of vanilla extract and an “accidental” dump of cinnamon. Once you blend all the liquid ingredients up add to the dry, mix, cook and enjoy! Mmmmm… These were marvelous this morning.

For the dark green smoothie, this one is my favorite! I make it a lot. Blend a handful of spinach, a handful of fresh parsley, a chunk of fresh ginger, slice of lemon (peel and all), spirulina powder and chlorella powder. Blend with water and enjoy the many health benefits! Spill a little on your shirt and you will be wearing green all day… Well actually it won’t come out of your shirt, so you’ll be wearing green forever.

What a nutritious, healthy, cleansing breakfast. Start your day off right today, don’t start it off with putting chemical dye in your body only to go into a massive mood swing and become covered in tumors. (I may be exaggerating)  But who want’s that?

I hope you have a wonderful, happy, healthy day! Eat pure, eat organic, live a healthy lifestyle and enjoy in the many benefits of eating well.

A girl who’s living organic, and who should learn to wear green instead of blue on St. Patrick’s Day,

– Emma
